In a troubling incident, a man accused of serious crimes under the POCSO Act escaped from police custody at LG Hospital in Maninagar. This has raised serious concerns among senior police officials. The Amraiwadi police had arrested four individuals under the POCSO Act and took them to LG Hospital for a medical check-up. While at the hospital, a commotion occurred following the death of a patient, which led to a crowd gathering. Taking advantage of this situation, one of the accused managed to slip away from the police officers.
The police were escorting the accused individuals for a medical check-up before presenting them to a special POCSO court. The head constable, Arvind Bhai Baba Bhai, along with constable Sanjay and female officer Hetalben, were responsible for the transport of the accused. While Sanjay parked the police vehicle, Arvind and Hetalben took the accused into the hospital’s trauma ward.
As the medical examination of the accused was underway, the doctor asked for the police personnel’s identification number. During this time, the accused named Valji was seated next to the doctor, while the others stood near Arvind. Suddenly, the atmosphere changed as the relatives of the deceased patient began to cry, causing a crowd to form in the ward. In the confusion, the accused named Jaysukh took the opportunity to flee the ward unnoticed. When Arvind realised that Jaysukh was missing, he immediately alerted the other officers, but searches in the vicinity did not yield any results.
With Jaysukh’s escape, Arvind immediately filed a complaint at the Maninagar police station. This incident has caught the attention of higher authorities due to the serious nature of the charges against the accused. Meanwhile, the other three accused have been sent to central jail. This incident raises questions about the security measures in place when handling individuals accused of serious crimes. Police officials are likely to review procedures to prevent such occurrences in the future. The public and the families affected by such cases are eager for justice and assurance that safety protocols will be strengthened to avoid similar incidents.
Authorities are now under pressure to ensure that the escaped accused is recaptured swiftly. The police have already started investigations, and local communities are being urged to report any sightings of the fugitive. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges law enforcement faces in maintaining custody of serious offenders, especially in public healthcare settings where unexpected situations can arise. Police are expected to conduct a thorough review of their protocols to enhance security and avoid such breaches in the future. In the meantime, the focus remains on apprehending Jaysukh and ensuring that justice is served for the victims of the POCSO case.
