In Kapadvanj, Gujarat, the authorities have taken action against Satyanarayan Traders under the Food Safety and Standards Act. They seized over 1500 kilograms of oil, valued at approximately 2 lakh rupees. This action was carried out by the food and drug regulatory body from Nadiad on June 11, 2025, during a surprise inspection. The responsible individual present at the premises was Sh Sharma Lajpatbhai Tansukhbhai. When questioned about their food safety license, they produced a valid license only until November 5, 2024. Despite this, they continued to pack oil without the necessary permissions.
During the inspection, the team expressed concerns over the quality of cottonseed oil (Sarita brand) and soybean oil (Kohinoor Edible Oil brand) being mixed. Samples of these oils were taken for laboratory testing. The seized products were confiscated at the site in the interest of public health. The estimated value of the seized oils is around 2 lakh rupees, weighing approximately 1500 kilograms. The collected samples will be sent for further analysis to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
The food regulatory body stated that, based on the laboratory results, further legal actions would be taken according to the established norms. This incident highlights the importance of adhering to food safety standards to protect consumers.
