Agriculture is not just about food. It is the backbone of our economy, said Dr. R.M. Chouhan, the Vice Chancellor of Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University. The third Agrivision conference was held today at the university, focusing on the theme “Holistic Agricultural Development through Self-Reliant India”. This event brought together more than 500 students who presented papers on agriculture and animal husbandry.
The conference was jointly organised by the university and Agrivision Gujarat. Dr. Chouhan highlighted the importance of empowering the agricultural sector for self-reliance. He stated that agriculture not only provides food but also supports the economy. The university has adopted 75 villages to promote agricultural development, water conservation, seed production, and planting trees, contributing to village growth.
Dr. C.M. Muraleedharan, the Director of Research, welcomed the attendees. Keshav Kashyap, the coordinator, presented the conference outline. He mentioned that the two-day event includes discussions on various agricultural topics across six different groups, encouraging the exchange of ideas and innovations. Additionally, there will be a parliament simulation and modern agricultural demonstrations for agriculture students.
Dr. Lakshmanbhai Bhutadia stated that villages and agriculture are the core strength of India. To strengthen this foundation, it is essential to revive rural agricultural systems from both cultural and economic perspectives. He noted that the progress of villages has stalled since the British rule and emphasised the need for a renaissance in rural agriculture for a self-reliant India.
National Coordinator Dr. Vikramsinh Farsva provided guidance on expanding entrepreneurship in agriculture, natural farming, animal husbandry, and the proper use of CSR funds. He called for making India developed and healthy. The concluding remarks were made by Dr. P.T. Patel, the university’s registrar.
Over 800 enthusiastic students from four state agricultural universities—Anand, Junagadh, Navsari, and Sardarkrushinagar—along with Kamdhenu University and Natural Farming Science University participated in the conference. More than 500 students presented papers on agriculture and animal husbandry topics.
This event is a significant step towards promoting research and development in the agricultural sector. It aims to inspire young minds to engage in innovative practices and enhance the agricultural landscape in Gujarat. The future of agriculture relies on the youth’s involvement and creativity, which this conference seeks to nurture. It serves as a platform for students to share their ideas and contribute to the growth of the agricultural community in India, paving the way for sustainable development in the sector.
