Ahmedabad Collector Office Resolves 501 Land Dispute Cases in One Day

The Ahmedabad Collector Office has made significant progress in resolving land dispute cases. On July 16, 2025, the office held hearings for 501 cases, including land sales, wills, inheritance, and rights issues. This rapid response follows a campaign to manage disputes more efficiently, ensuring farmers can conduct land transactions without delays. In the past six months, the Collector Office registered 680 new cases and resolved a total of 1,087 cases. This includes 323 applications that were processed under special hearings.

The initiative began in March 2025, introducing hearings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in addition to the regular sessions on Mondays and Thursdays. Each session now typically addresses over 100 cases. This approach aims to clear long-standing disputes that have hindered farmers from selling land or completing other transactions. Such delays often affect their livelihoods and the smooth functioning of land ownership.

The Ahmedabad District is surrounded by Kheda, Mehsana, Anand, and Surendranagar districts. It has 14 talukas, 556 villages, and a population close to 7.4 million. The Collector Office plays a crucial role in resolving disputes and ensuring smooth administrative processes.

Recent statistics show the efficiency of the office. In June 2025, 648 cases were processed, and in July, 501 cases were resolved. Notably, there are currently no pending cases older than six months. The office also successfully cleared 410 orders in total. This includes cases from February to July 2025, where the office registered 92 new cases in February and resolved 38 in the same month.

The new initiative is a direct response to the needs of the local farmers and landowners. By expediting the resolution of cases, the Collector Office aims to simplify the processes for selling land, inheritance, and other agricultural matters. This efficiency not only benefits individual farmers but also contributes to the overall economic development of the Ahmedabad district.

The Collector’s Office is led by IAS officer Vijay Nehra, who has been actively promoting digital governance to enhance service delivery. The office aims to provide citizen-centric services through a single platform, making it easier for people to access necessary documents and support.

By managing disputes effectively, the Collector Office hopes to foster a more conducive environment for agricultural activities and land transactions. The swift resolution of cases is expected to encourage investment and growth in the agricultural sector, ultimately benefiting the community as a whole.

In conclusion, the Ahmedabad Collector Office’s recent efforts highlight a significant step towards improving land administration in Gujarat. With efficient handling of disputes, the office is paving the way for better agricultural practices and financial security for farmers in the region.
