Ahmedabad Crime Branch Arrests Notorious Criminal Manoj Shankarlal Salvi

In a significant breakthrough, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested Manoj Shankarlal Salvi, also known as Chaki, a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Salvi, aged 21, was apprehended in Udaipur, Rajasthan, after being on the run for three years. He was wanted in connection with an Arms Act case registered by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) back in 2022.

On December 14, 2022, police captured Rupalal Bhavarlal Salvi with an illegal pistol and a live cartridge near the Shivalik Complex at Panchvati Circle in Ahmedabad. During questioning, it was revealed that the weapon was supplied by Manoj Salvi. This led to the registration of an FIR under various sections of the Arms Act and the Gujarat Police Act at the Ellisbridge police station.

For nearly three years, Salvi evaded capture, but finally, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch tracked him down to his residence in Hiran Magri, Sector-14, Gorethan Vikas Colony in Udaipur. He was taken into custody and is now being held at the Ellisbridge police station for further questioning.

Manoj Salvi has a notorious criminal background. He is listed as a history-sheeter with numerous cases against him in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Delhi. According to police records, Salvi faces at least 11 serious charges, including armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and even murder. His criminal activities span several locations and incidents, making him a significant figure in the underworld.

Among the various crimes, he has been involved in armed robberies and illegal arms trading. His connections with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known for serious criminal activities such as extortion and contract killings, make him a dangerous individual. Senior officer I.N. Ghasura from the Ahmedabad Crime Branch stated, “Manoj Salvi’s arrest is a critical success in our efforts to dismantle the network of the Bishnoi gang operating in Gujarat and surrounding states. His criminal past and involvement with weapons pose a serious threat to society.”

Salvi was previously detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for 18 months but was later released on bail. The police are now looking into his potential involvement in recent illegal arms trafficking cases in Gujarat and the wider operations of the Bishnoi gang.

This arrest marks a significant achievement for the Ahmedabad Crime Branch in their ongoing fight against organized crime. Officials are optimistic that this will help reduce the gang’s influence and criminal activities in the region. With police intensifying efforts to capture other gang members, the community is hopeful for a safer environment. The authorities urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.

As the investigation continues, further details about Manoj Salvi’s operations and his role in the Bishnoi gang are expected to emerge. The police are committed to ensuring that justice is served and that those involved in criminal activities face the full force of the law.
