Ahmedabad Mandal of Western Railway has launched a campaign focused on eliminating plastic pollution. This initiative runs from May 22 to June 5, 2025. The campaign aims to reduce plastic waste in railway premises and trains. It shows the commitment of the Mandal towards environmental sustainability.
From May 22 to 24, the Mandal organized special awareness programs. These included oath-taking ceremonies and rallies. Railway employees and citizens actively participated in these events. During this time, efforts were made to assess, dispose of, and monitor plastic waste. A digital awareness campaign was also run through social media.
Awareness materials were displayed at various railway stations, offices, and coaches. Workshops were organized to promote the reduction of plastic use and recycling. Initiatives such as “Carry Your Own Water Bottle” encouraged people to adopt reusable options.
From May 25 to 27, a cleanliness drive was held. This involved waste classification, recycling, and cleanliness-related activities. Additionally, community awareness programs were organized with the help of local communities and NGOs. Pamphlets were distributed to further spread the message.
Ahmedabad Mandal is dedicated to a clean and green future through these approaches. The campaign will continue until World Environment Day on June 5, 2025.
