Ahmedabad’s municipal government has announced an ambitious plan for development. From 2023 to 2026, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) aims to carry out projects worth ₹25,000 crore. These projects will focus on roads, water supply, drainage, health, and infrastructure. On June 4, 2025, a review meeting took place to discuss the budget and progress of these projects. Mayor Devang Dani led the meeting, which included the municipal commissioner and various departmental officials.
For the financial year 2024-25, the AMC has set a budget of ₹5,501 crore for development works. So far, tenders worth ₹2,883.50 crore have been issued, with ₹2,633.58 crore already approved. In the current year, projects worth ₹3,870.84 crore have been completed, and more projects costing ₹5,419.80 crore are set to begin soon.
The total estimated expenditure could reach ₹11,290.64 crore by the end of this phase. For the year 2025-26, the AMC has approved tenders worth ₹8,228.08 crore against an estimated budget of ₹14,100 crore. Currently, tenders worth ₹2,155.02 crore are still in the process.
In total, the combined value of completed and ongoing projects stands at ₹10,383.10 crore. By June 30, 2025, the AMC expects to have completed projects worth ₹2,873.00 crore. Significant works were also completed in the financial year 2023-24, focusing on essential areas such as road repair, water supply, and drainage systems. Other improvements include the development of parks, public transport, and smart city initiatives.
The AMC aims to ensure that all citizens benefit from these projects. The government encourages public participation and collaboration for successful implementation. Future plans include issuing more tenders and completing approved projects swiftly. There will be increased investment in public health, water supply, and transport sectors.
