Passengers flying from Ahmedabad to London faced a major disruption on June 17, when an Air India flight was cancelled just before takeoff due to a technical glitch. Flight AI-159, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, was scheduled to depart at 1:10 PM but was grounded after the issue was detected. This incident comes on the heels of a recent plane crash that claimed 270 lives, stirring concerns for passenger safety.
The technical issue was identified hours before the flight was set to leave. Fortunately, the problem was caught in time, preventing what could have been a disastrous situation for hundreds of passengers. Upon hearing the news, both the airport staff and passengers felt a sense of relief. However, the cancellation left many travellers stranded at the airport, causing significant inconvenience.
This was not the first time Air India had to cancel a flight from Ahmedabad to London. Just days earlier, another flight was grounded due to technical difficulties. Air India prioritised passenger safety by cancelling the flight, but the frequency of these incidents has raised alarm among travellers.
Additionally, on the night before the Ahmedabad incident, four Air India flights at Mumbai International Airport faced similar technical issues. Passengers expressed their frustration, demanding answers from airline staff. The recent crash in Ahmedabad has left a lasting impact, and the Mumbai glitches have only added to the anxiety surrounding air travel.
In response to the crash, Air India has announced a temporary halt on all direct flights from Ahmedabad to London. The airline is currently conducting thorough checks on its Boeing fleet to ensure passenger safety. So far, nine Boeing 787 aircraft have been inspected, with more scheduled for review.
Delays in long-haul flights may occur due to these inspections, especially at airports with night curfews. Air India has committed to keeping passengers informed about any changes to flight schedules. Affected travellers can expect options for refunds or free rescheduling of their flights.
Safety is a top priority for Air India, and the airline is taking these measures seriously. Passengers are advised to check their flight status before travelling to the airport to avoid further inconvenience. As investigations continue, the public hopes for a smoother travel experience in the future. The airline’s commitment to safety and transparency will be crucial in regaining passenger trust in the coming days.
