Air Liquide is set to strengthen its presence in Gujarat by investing in a new Air Separation Unit (ASU) and a Cylinder Filling Station (CFS) in Bhagapura. This investment will involve the construction, ownership, and operation of these facilities, which are expected to start operations in 2027. This strategic expansion will effectively double Air Liquide’s production capacity in the region, complementing the existing ASU plant in Jhagadia and ensuring a more reliable supply to customers across Gujarat.
Benoit Renard, Managing Director of Air Liquide India, stated, “With our investment in this new state-of-the-art Air Separation Plant and the Cylinder Filling Station, we are significantly increasing our production capacity in Gujarat. By enhancing our presence, we aim to contribute to the development of the industrial and healthcare sectors in the region. It is always our priority to stay close to our customers to provide high levels of reliability and quality in our services.”
The Bhagapura ASU is strategically located to support the robust industrial development of Gujarat. It will provide on-site, bulk, and packaged gases, serving applications in sectors such as automotive, battery production, electronics, and medical gases for local hospitals. The plant will have a production capacity of 200 tons per day, while the filling station will handle around 1,000 cylinders daily.
In line with Air Liquide’s sustainability goals, which include achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and aligning with the state’s wind-solar hybrid power policy, the site is planned to be decarbonised through renewable energy sourcing by 2029. Air Liquide India has been a key supplier in the Indian gas industry since 1996 and already operates six production facilities in northern and western India, with a combined production capacity of about 1,500 tons per day for oxygen, nitrogen, and argon gases.
This investment marks a significant step in Air Liquide’s commitment to the Indian market. By increasing its capabilities, the company aims to better serve various industries and support the local economy. As the demand for industrial gases grows, Air Liquide’s expansion in Gujarat is expected to create new job opportunities and enhance service reliability for its customers.
