In Junagadh district, two staff members from a private school in the Bhensan taluka face serious allegations. The principal and a Sanskrit teacher are accused of inappropriate behaviour with multiple students. The police have quickly summoned both individuals for questioning. The education department has also initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
During a parents’ meeting, students reported that for several days, the principal and the teacher had called them into a room at night, where they allegedly made them undress and engaged in other inappropriate actions. One student mentioned that similar incidents involved approximately 20 to 25 students from the institution.
Following these allegations, parents approached the Bhensan police station. However, no formal police complaint has been filed yet. The police inspector, R.B. Gadhvi, informed local media that, despite parents being reluctant to file a complaint, both the principal and the teacher were brought to the police station for questioning. If the accusations are confirmed, legal action will be taken.
Kiranben Ramani, a legal officer from the district child protection department, also visited the institution to conduct an investigation. She stated that after receiving calls at her office early in the morning, she arrived at the school to speak with parents, students, trustees, and administrators. Allegations indicate that incidents involving 20 to 25 students have occurred.
A mother of one student clearly stated that her child also experienced inappropriate behaviour. The district education officer, Lataben Upadhyay, commented that as soon as they learned about the incident, they dispatched an officer to the site.
Currently, a complete team from the district education department has been removed from the school and is being held at the Bhensan police station. Teams from the district child protection department, child welfare committee, district education department, and the police are conducting a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
This incident has raised significant concerns among parents and the community about the safety of children in schools. Many parents are now questioning the protocols in place to protect their children. With the investigation ongoing, it is crucial for the authorities to address these issues transparently and effectively to restore trust within the community.
