AMC to Build ₹51 Crore Sports Complex in Vastral, Completion by August 2025

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to create a modern sports complex in Vastral, costing over ₹51 crore. This ambitious project will cover an area of 43,764 square meters and aims for completion by August 2025.

The new sports complex will feature a variety of indoor and outdoor sports facilities. Outdoor facilities will include a 400-meter athletics track, a football ground, and four tennis courts. There will also be designated areas for long jump and triple jump. Ample parking space will be available on-site to accommodate visitors.

Inside the complex, two main buildings will provide extensive facilities. The first is an indoor sports facility, which will include:

– **Basement**: Parking space for 91 two-wheelers and 40 four-wheelers.
– **Ground Floor**: An administrative office, a cafeteria, a lounge, a table tennis room, and a swimming pool with changing rooms, toilets, and seating for 100 spectators.
– **First Floor**: A gymnasium, steam sauna, jacuzzi, and a multi-purpose hall for yoga, judo, karate, boxing, and other exercises.
– **Second Floor**: A multipurpose court for badminton, volleyball, and basketball.
– **Third Floor**: Spectator seating for 176 people.

This facility aims to promote sports and fitness in Ahmedabad. It will provide a comprehensive environment for training and recreation for people of all ages.

The development coincides with India’s goal to host the 2036 Olympic Games. The Indian government is investing in sports infrastructure across the country, and the AMC’s initiative is part of this larger plan. Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced plans for 10 major stadiums to be built at the Sardar Patel Sports Complex, which is near the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.

In recent years, Gujarat has significantly increased its investment in sports. In 2002, the sports budget was only ₹2 crore, but it has now risen to ₹352 crore. This reflects the government’s commitment to improving facilities for athletes and promoting sports among the public.

As part of this commitment, the AMC has also proposed the construction of 15,000 new housing units, improved road development, and other infrastructure projects. These developments aim to enhance the city’s urban amenities and encourage a culture of sports and fitness.

In addition to the new sports complex, AMC is also establishing sports activity centres under seven flyovers across Ahmedabad. These facilities will feature landscaped gardens, children’s play areas, and spaces for various indoor games. This initiative is designed to make sports accessible to more people in the city.

The sports complex in Vastral will not only provide facilities for competitive sports but also promote a healthy lifestyle among residents. The city aims to create an environment that supports both leisure and competitive sports.

As the construction progresses, the AMC encourages public engagement. They aim to involve local communities in the sporting activities that the new complex will offer. With these developments, Ahmedabad is positioning itself as a hub for sports and fitness in Gujarat, paving the way for future athletes to thrive.

The completion of the Vastral Sports Complex in 2025 will mark a significant milestone in Ahmedabad’s journey toward becoming a leading city for sports infrastructure and training in India. Residents can look forward to enjoying modern facilities that will cater to their sporting needs and help foster a vibrant sports community.
