On May 18, 2023, a significant event took place in Gozariya, Mehsana district of Gujarat. The Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the K.K. Patel and Madhuben Patel Nursing College. The ceremony was attended by many dignitaries, including local leaders and healthcare professionals. Amit Shah highlighted the government’s efforts to improve healthcare services across the nation since 2014. He mentioned that 600 million citizens are benefiting from the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides health cards worth ₹5 lakh for medical services. Shah stated that various initiatives, such as the Nutrition Campaign and Swachh Bharat Mission, have greatly improved public health.
The minister pointed out that the healthcare budget has significantly increased from ₹37,000 crores to ₹1,37,000 crores, ensuring better health services for citizens. He stressed the importance of modernising hospitals and improving healthcare infrastructure. Shah also noted the expansion of medical education, with the number of medical colleges rising from 387 to 780, producing more than 118,000 doctors in recent years. The launch of the National Digital Health Ecosystem has further enhanced health services in the country.
During the event, local MP Haribhai Patel expressed pride in Gozariya, calling it a moment of glory for the community. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their commitment to the development of the nation. The new nursing college will serve not only Gozariya but also benefit surrounding villages, improving healthcare access.
The college is part of a public hospital initiative and will provide various medical services, including surgical, gynaecological, and paediatric care. It aims to deliver high-quality medical treatment using modern technology.
