The annual meeting of the Arya Samaj was held today at Gurukul Kurukshetra. The chief guest, the Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, addressed the attendees. He urged Arya Samaj leaders to make natural farming their mission. He compared this mission to the Hindi movement and the cow protection movement, encouraging them to spread awareness among the public.
Governor Devvrat highlighted the need to eliminate social evils such as superstitions and caste discrimination. He said that the time has come to raise awareness in the agriculture sector. He pointed out that the use of chemical farming methods, like urea and pesticides, is harming the soil, water, and overall health. The only solution to this crisis is natural farming.
He expressed concern over the rising cases of deadly diseases like cancer among children. Scientific studies have confirmed the presence of urea in mother’s milk. Moreover, diabetes and high blood pressure are common in households, which are primarily caused by food produced through chemical farming. The World Health Organization has warned that cancer cases could explode in India in the next 10 to 15 years. Therefore, it is crucial to turn towards cow-based natural farming for the welfare of humanity and protection of nature.
Devvrat referred to the historical background of the establishment of the ‘Gaukrishi Adi Rakshani Sabha’ by Swami Dayanand Saraswati. He noted that the goal was to protect cows and ensure pure and wholesome food reaches people. However, in today’s chemical farming, the role of cows has diminished significantly, leading to accidents caused by stray cattle. He criticized the excessive use of urea and pesticides for the sake of higher production, which has rendered the land barren and contaminated groundwater.
During the meeting, he detailed the fundamental differences between natural, chemical, and organic farming. He stated that natural farming would protect cows, raise groundwater levels, improve the environment, and increase soil productivity. Additionally, it would provide pure grains to people, leading to better health and double the market value for farmers, making them economically self-sufficient.
The event was attended by prominent members of the council, including President Sahdev Singh Bedhadak, Vice President Pandit Yogesh Datt, and General Secretary Kailash Karmath. Various Arya scholars and leaders from across the country were also present.
The program began with all council members inspecting the natural farming farm at Gurukul under the leadership of Acharya Devvrat. Participants witnessed the benefits of natural farming firsthand. They praised Acharya Devvrat’s efforts and regarded natural farming as a powerful tool for bringing about social change.
During the program, senior Arya Samaj leaders were honoured by the Gurukul management committee. Acharya Devvrat and Gurukul President Rajkumar Garg presented shawls, fruits, and ₹11,000 to honourees such as Dhaniram Bedhadak, Master Harisingh, Bir Singh Arya, Amarsingh, Pandit Sitaram, and Smt. Santoshbala Arya for their service and contributions.
All attendees wholeheartedly embraced Acharya Devvrat’s message and pledged to accelerate the campaign for natural farming across the country.
