In a significant operation, the Shamalaji police in Aravalli district arrested two men who were caught smuggling foreign liquor worth ₹14.4 lakhs. The police acted on a tip-off while conducting checks at the Ansol checkpoint. They stopped a suspicious vehicle, an Ayser truck, which was reportedly transporting a large quantity of foreign alcohol from Rajasthan to Gujarat.
The police had received specific information about the vehicle, which had the registration number HR 63D 6387. Upon stopping the truck, they set up barricades and conducted a thorough search. This led to the discovery of 360 bottles of foreign liquor, amounting to a total seizure of ₹22.42 lakhs, including the vehicle itself.
The arrested individuals were identified as Dineshbhai Kishanbhai Chamar from Jasiya, Rohtak, Haryana, and Gopalbhai Shankarbhai Rajput, also from Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar, Haryana. Both have been charged under the Prohibition Act, and further investigations are ongoing.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of illegal liquor smuggling in the region. The local police have been actively working to curb the trade of both domestic and foreign liquor. Recently, they intercepted another truck near the Ratanpur checkpoint, seizing ₹6.8 lakhs worth of foreign liquor hidden among other goods. Two more smugglers were arrested in that operation.
The rise in illicit liquor trade coincides with the upcoming local elections, where candidates are reportedly using liquor to influence voters. Local bootleggers are collaborating to stockpile foreign liquor, which raises concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.
The Aravalli police are determined to combat these illegal activities. They have intensified monitoring of suspicious vehicles and checkpoints across the district. The recent arrests underscore their commitment to maintaining law and order, especially with the elections approaching.
In addition to police efforts, authorities are encouraging the public to report any suspicious activities related to liquor smuggling. Community involvement is seen as vital in tackling this growing problem. The police urge citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate in efforts to prevent illegal liquor trade.
As the local elections draw near, the focus on illegal activities, including liquor smuggling, is expected to increase. Authorities are urging citizens to participate actively in the election process and ensure that their votes are not influenced by illegal means. The outcome of these elections could significantly impact local governance and the effectiveness of measures against illegal liquor trade.
Local leaders and police officials are now under pressure to address these issues promptly. They are exploring various strategies to ensure a fair and transparent election, free from the influence of illicit activities. The community is hopeful for a positive change, as law enforcement agencies continue their crackdown on illegal liquor operations in Aravalli and surrounding regions.
