The Asha Kiran School in Deesa has reopened its doors, marking an important step for local children. This event took place on July 1, 2025, and was led by Assistant Governor Rotarian Dr. Praveen Thakkar from Rotary Zone 12. The President of Rotary Club Divine, Dr. Avani Thakkar, spoke about the challenges faced by nomadic communities. Many of these families do not settle in one city, which affects their children’s education.
For four years, the Rotary Club Divine has been running the Asha Kiran School project. This project aims to provide free education to children from these communities. The school helps them learn to read and write. Dr. Avani Thakkar emphasized the need for parents to find stable jobs in one village. This stability will allow their children to enroll in regular schools.
In addition to education, the Rotary Club also supports these children with clothing, sweaters, and snacks. On the reopening day, notebooks and stationery were distributed by Rotarian Rinkle Thakkar. Several members of the club were present, including Secretary Dr. Niketa Thakkar, Dr. Rita Patel, Dr. Varsha Patel, Dr. Binal Mali, and Dr. Dharti.
The new president of Rotary Club Divine, Dr. Avani Thakkar, has planned three projects to kick off the new year. This reopening is just the beginning of a series of initiatives aimed at supporting education and improving lives in the community.
