In Gujarat, the State Transport (ST) Corporation has introduced automatic vehicle washing machines at 33 depots. These machines clean various types of buses, including sleeper, express, Volvo, and mini buses, in less than five minutes. The project is part of a larger initiative to enhance cleanliness in public transport. With an investment of over ₹11.80 crores, this service aims to keep buses clean for passengers.
The initiative is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ or Clean India Campaign. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state government is taking innovative steps to maintain cleanliness in public areas. Transport Minister Harsh Sanghvi is overseeing this ambitious plan, which prioritises not just safe travel but also clean travel for citizens.
Cleanliness is a key concern for commuters. The ST Corporation is committed to ensuring that buses are kept clean both inside and out. The automatic washing machines serve this purpose effectively, allowing for quick and efficient cleaning. Currently, these machines are operational in depots located in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Anand, Rajkot, and several other cities.
The automatic washing machines are designed to wash the front, sides, and back of the buses in just five to seven minutes, ensuring that passengers enjoy a clean journey. The first phase of this project involves 80 depots, with plans to expand to an additional 40 depots in the near future, including areas like Junagadh, Vapi, and Surat.
The ST Corporation has always prioritised passenger comfort and cleanliness. This new initiative reflects their ongoing commitment to improving public transport services. The automatic washing machines are expected to enhance the overall travel experience by providing a higher standard of hygiene on buses. As a result, passengers can look forward to not just a safe ride but a cleaner one as well.
This move is part of a broader effort to modernise public transport in Gujarat. By investing in technology that promotes cleanliness, the ST Corporation hopes to attract more passengers and improve their overall service quality. The citizens of Gujarat can expect a significant improvement in the cleanliness of public transport, which is essential for promoting a healthy environment.
In conclusion, the introduction of automatic vehicle washing machines marks a significant step towards enhancing the cleanliness and efficiency of Gujarat’s public transport system. This initiative not only aligns with national cleanliness goals but also reflects the state’s commitment to providing a better travel experience for its citizens.
