On July 1, 2025, an awareness campaign for organ and blood donation took place in Ambaji, Gujarat. This event marked National Doctors’ Day and was organised by the Ambaji Charitable Trust in collaboration with the Shri Arasuri Ambaji Mata Devasthan Trust. Over 150 people pledged to donate their organs during the campaign.
Dr. Anilbhai Nayak, the National President of the Indian Medical Association, delivered an inspiring speech about the importance of organ donation. He encouraged everyone to contribute towards saving lives through organ donation. Delip Deshmukh also spoke at the event, stressing that no one should die due to a lack of money or organs in this vital time.
Over the past four years, more than 700 people have pledged to donate their organs. In the Banaskantha district, nine people have donated their organs in the last three years, which is commendable. Delip Deshmukh shared stories of individuals who were unable to function due to organ failures and urged families to consider donating organs to their loved ones in need.
The campaign also successfully collected over 35 blood bottles. The event highlighted the importance of both organ and blood donation, encouraging more people to take part in saving lives. The local community showed great support and enthusiasm for the cause.
Ambaji is a famous pilgrimage site in the Banaskantha district, attracting thousands of devotees throughout the year. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Amba and is a significant place of worship. Many people visit to seek blessings and participate in various religious events.
The awareness campaign coincided with other local activities, including adjustments to the temple’s prayer and visitation timings due to seasonal changes. Starting from October 3, 2024, the temple will have new timings for rituals and public access, ensuring that devotees can attend without any inconvenience.
The Ambaji temple is known for its unique practice of worship, where no idol of the goddess is present. Instead, devotees pay homage to a sacred diagram known as the ‘Shri Visayendra.’ The temple is a vital part of the cultural and spiritual landscape of the region, hosting large gatherings during festivals and special occasions.
