In a remarkable operation, the Banaskantha Police have arrested the murderers of an elderly couple in Jasra village. The victims, Vardhaji Patel and his wife Hoshiben Patel, were brutally killed in their home. The couple resided in Jasra while their son works as a Police Inspector in Vadodara.
The tragic event took place overnight from June 15 to June 16. During this time, unknown assailants broke into their home with the intent to rob. The police formed nine teams to investigate the case thoroughly, gathering evidence from the crime scene. They analysed photographs and videos, and conducted forensic examinations, including fingerprint analysis and dog squad searches. Over 80 CCTV footage clips were reviewed to find clues.
The investigation revealed that the main suspects were neighbours. Suresh Shamalabhai Patel and his father, Shamalabhai Rupabhai Patel, were arrested for their involvement in the crime. The investigation indicated that they had been watching the couple’s home, waiting for the right moment to strike. Also implicated in the crime were Uma Chelaji Patel, who helped maintain noise cover during the attack, and Dilipji Mafaji Thakor, who believed that performing certain religious rituals would increase his wealth.
The police acted swiftly, solving the case in just 36 hours. The arrests have brought some relief to the community, shaken by the violent crime. Local residents expressed their gratitude to the police for their rapid response and thorough investigation.
