Bank of India, one of India’s leading public sector banks, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), which operates under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). This agreement aims to make more than 250 government services available through the BOI Omni Neo application. The services will be integrated from various central and state government departments through the UMANG platform, which stands for Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance.
The partnership will provide access to important services from departments such as the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Permanent Account Number (PAN) services, passport services, railway services, and Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) among others. This initiative is expected to enhance convenience for citizens and promote digital inclusivity.
The exchange ceremony for the MoU took place on June 27, 2025, at MeitY in New Delhi. Key officials from both NeGD and Bank of India attended the event. Debabrata Nayak, the Chief Technology Officer of Bank of India, and Shrimati Shampa Sudhir Biswas, General Manager of Bank of India, jointly presided over the ceremony with other senior officials. This MoU marks a significant milestone in promoting the Digital India initiative through last-mile delivery.
Rajneesh Kumar, the Chief Operating Officer of NeGD, stated that Bank of India has become the first bank to integrate with the UMANG platform. This integration will allow citizens to easily access necessary government services using a banking platform. Shrimati Shampa Sudhir Biswas expressed pride in the collaboration with NeGD, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to supporting government initiatives. She also thanked NeGD and MeitY for their partnership.
Bank of India remains committed to supporting transformative initiatives under the Digital India program. By making government services more accessible through digital means, the bank aims to enhance user experience and contribute to the government’s efforts in digitisation. This collaboration is part of a broader trend where banks are increasingly becoming facilitators of government services, thereby simplifying processes for citizens.
The Omni Neo app will serve as a universal mobile banking platform, allowing users to manage their banking needs along with accessing government services. This is expected to significantly ease the bureaucratic burden many citizens face when trying to avail themselves of government services. As the partnership unfolds, users can expect to see a range of services becoming available on the app in the coming months.
Digital banking is becoming a crucial part of everyday life in India. With the ongoing push towards a digital economy, initiatives like this one help bridge the gap between citizens and the services they need. By integrating these services into a single application, Bank of India is taking a significant step towards enhancing the efficiency of government service delivery.
Overall, this partnership is a positive development for citizens who will benefit from easier access to essential services. It reflects the growing trend of using technology to improve governance and make life simpler for the common man. As more services become available through the BOI Omni Neo app, it is likely to encourage even more users to embrace digital banking solutions, paving the way for a more digitally savvy society.
