Today, an important event took place where Pujya Bapu expressed his deep respect for the land of education. This sacred land is linked to the teachings that inspire many. The occasion began with the release of two books edited by Shri Nitin Bhai Vadgama. The books are titled ‘Manas Nav Jeevan’ and ‘Manas Aparadh’. These books were launched on the stage, marking the start of this significant gathering.
Bapu started the event by sharing a letter written by Sunita Williams, a daughter of Gujarat and an astronaut. In her letter, she spoke about her experiences in space. She mentioned how, while awaiting a possible disaster, she began to read the Ramayana and the Bhagavad Gita. This, she felt, gave her strength in a time of uncertainty. She also shared a miraculous experience where prayers led to the destruction of a meteor.
Bapu was pleased with Sunita’s letter. He highlighted that our sacred texts are meant to bring joy and inspiration, not disturbance. He emphasised the importance of truth, stating that without it, there can be no fearlessness, and without fearlessness, there is no courage.
In his address, Bapu welcomed everyone to what he called ‘Ananda University’. He described it as a unique institution with no fees, no exams, and no need for certificates. Here, love is the primary teacher, offering an open sky of opportunities. He encouraged the audience to embrace freedom in their learning journey.
Bapu elaborated on the teachings of the Ramayana and other sacred texts. He explained how Brahma created five types of beings: gods, demons, ancestors, animals, and humans. Each asked for light and sustenance from Brahma. Bapu spoke about the responsibilities of each being and how they interact with the world.
He further explained that humans are the highest creation, equipped with wisdom. He urged listeners to adopt a vegetarian diet, especially after listening to the teachings of the Ramayana. Bapu reiterated the values that the head of Ananda University should embody: patience, care for students, humility, and a commitment to truth and knowledge.
Bapu listed four types of sacrifices or ‘Yajnas’ that students should perform. The first is the sacrifice of resources, where one shares what they have without expectations. The second is the sacrifice of endurance, where one learns to withstand challenges. The third is the sacrifice of acceptance, where one accepts the outcomes of their actions. Finally, the fourth is the sacrifice of study, where continuous learning is encouraged.
He also shared insights about music, describing the seven notes and their meanings. Each note represents different aspects of life and spirituality. He explained how these notes can lead to enlightenment and a deeper understanding of our existence.
In conclusion, Bapu spoke about the blessings of divine incarnations in times of distress. He illustrated how God manifests to restore dharma when there is chaos. His message was clear: the teachings of the Ramayana not only serve as guidance but also as a path to understanding our purpose on this earth. This gathering served as a reminder of the power of education and spirituality in transforming lives and society. Bapu’s words resonated with everyone present, inspiring them to embrace knowledge and spirituality in their own lives.
