Bharuch to Host India’s First Bulk Drug Park with ₹3920 Crore Investment

In Bharuch, Gujarat, a significant development is underway. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the site of the new Bulk Drug Park in Jambusar. This park is being built on an area of 815 hectares (2015 acres) with an investment of ₹3920 crore. The project aims to enhance India’s drug manufacturing capabilities and reduce reliance on imports.

During his visit, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the construction work. He was particularly interested in the common infrastructure facilities, which are being developed at a cost of ₹550 crore. These facilities include approach roads, compound walls, internal roads, and drainage systems. The Chief Minister provided necessary guidance and suggestions to ensure smooth progress.

The Bulk Drug Park is part of a policy introduced by the central government in 2020. The aim is to promote self-reliance in the production of pharmaceuticals. The Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) is responsible for overseeing this project in Jambusar.

Chief Minister Patel also highlighted the importance of green initiatives during his visit. He participated in a tree-planting ceremony to promote the ‘Green Growth’ vision. The park is expected to create new job opportunities and boost the local economy.

The central government has approved financial assistance of approximately ₹1000 crore for establishing Bulk Drug Parks in several states, including Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen India’s pharmaceutical industry and make it more competitive.

Gujarat is already a leading hub for the pharmaceutical industry in India. The establishment of the Bulk Drug Park will allow local companies to produce bulk drugs, which are currently imported. This is expected to lower costs and improve product availability.

The Bulk Drug Park in Jambusar will be the first of its kind in India. It is designed to enhance the capacity of the local pharma sector and contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth. The park will be equipped with modern infrastructure to support the production of various pharmaceuticals.

The Chief Minister’s visit to Jambusar marks a pivotal moment for the region. The park’s development reflects the government’s commitment to advancing the pharmaceutical sector. It is anticipated that this initiative will help in generating employment and fostering industrial growth in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Bharuch for the inauguration of the Bulk Drug Park. His visit will be significant as it comes after a long gap of 2042 days. This event will not only highlight the importance of the park but also serve as a platform for the upcoming assembly elections.

In summary, the Bulk Drug Park in Jambusar is set to revolutionise the pharmaceutical landscape in Gujarat and India. With substantial investment and support from the government, it aims to provide a robust infrastructure for the production of bulk drugs, helping the country to achieve greater self-sufficiency in healthcare.
