BJP Announces Candidates for Kadi and Visavdar Assembly By-elections

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat has announced its candidates for the upcoming assembly by-elections. The elections are set to take place in the Kadi and Visavdar constituencies on June 19, 2025. Rajendra Chavda will contest from Kadi, while Kiritbhai Patel has been selected for Visavdar. Today marks the last day for filing nomination papers for these by-elections. The BJP’s decision was made late last night, confirming Rajendra Chavda for Kadi and Kirit Patel for Visavdar.

The Indian National Congress has also announced its candidates. Ramesh Chavda, a former MLA, will run for Kadi, and Nitin Ranpariya, the district president of the Congress in Bhensana, will contest from Visavdar. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has nominated Gopal Italia for Visavdar and Jagdish Chavda for Kadi.

In Kadi, the Rohit community, which is part of the Scheduled Castes, plays a significant role in the voter base. Rajendra Chavda, who belongs to this community, has been actively involved in politics since 1972. He previously ran for elections with the Janata Party and has been a member of the BJP since 1980. Chavda has served in various capacities, including as a director of the Gujarat Scheduled Castes Development Corporation from 2011 to 2017. His extensive experience and community ties are seen as an advantage in this election.

On the other hand, Kiritbhai Patel, contesting from Visavdar, expressed confidence in winning. He filed his nomination in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other party leaders. Patel stated that the voters of Visavdar have supported the BJP since 2012 and are expected to do so again. He promised to address all significant issues in the constituency within the next 800 days.

The political atmosphere in Gujarat is heating up as the by-elections approach. The BJP, Congress, and AAP are all gearing up to secure victories in Kadi and Visavdar. The recent passing of sitting MLA Karshan Solanki has led to the need for these by-elections. Additionally, AAP’s Bhupat Bhayani recently resigned from his MLA position and joined the BJP, adding to the competitive landscape.

Voting for both constituencies will occur on June 19, 2025, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 23. The upcoming days will reveal how the candidates prepare and engage with their voters in this crucial political event for Gujarat.
