A serious bus accident occurred late at night near Khali Char Rasta, Siddhpur, resulting in 14 passengers being injured. The incident took place around 3 AM on Sunday. Eyewitnesses reported that the private bus, which was travelling from Jodhpur to Surat, overturned after the driver lost control. Passengers in the bus screamed as the vehicle flipped over, prompting nearby residents to rush to the scene. Emergency services were quickly notified, and all injured passengers were transported to the civil hospital for treatment.
According to reports, the driver was driving recklessly, leading to the bus mounting the divider before it overturned. The loud cries from the passengers alerted many people nearby, who immediately came to help. Local police arrived shortly after the accident and began their investigation. Among the 14 injured, four suffered serious injuries and were admitted to the hospital, while others received first aid.
This unfortunate event has raised concerns about road safety in the area. Authorities are urging drivers to be more cautious, especially during late-night hours when visibility is poor. The police are also looking into the driver’s background to determine if there were any previous incidents related to reckless driving.
In a related incident, police in Siddhpur recently intercepted a vehicle carrying a large supply of foreign liquor. This liquor was reportedly smuggled from Maharashtra and was being delivered in an auto rickshaw at Khali Char Rasta. The police set up a watch near the Saraswati River bridge, leading to the seizure of 168 bottles valued at ₹55,800.
Three individuals were arrested for their involvement in this smuggling operation, and authorities are investigating how they managed to transport such large quantities of liquor without detection. Smuggling of foreign liquor has become a significant issue in the region, often involving complex networks that evade police checks.
The connection between the bus accident and the liquor smuggling operation has not yet been established, but both incidents highlight the ongoing challenges of road safety and illegal activities in Gujarat. Local residents are expressing their concerns and demanding stricter enforcement of traffic rules and anti-smuggling laws.
As investigations continue into both incidents, the community is hoping for quick action to improve safety on the roads and to tackle the smuggling of illegal substances. Authorities are appealing for anyone with information on either incident to come forward to assist in their inquiries.
