In Danilimda, Ahmedabad, a businessman was brutally attacked with a sword by a builder and three others. The incident occurred when the businessman demanded his money back from the builder. According to the complaint filed by the victim, the builder had launched a flat scheme in Kalupur. The businessman paid money to book a flat under this scheme. However, the builder constructed the flats on illegal land. As a result, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) demolished the flats. This led the businessman to seek a refund of his money.
The businessman, Abdul Samad Sheikh, runs a scrap business and had booked a flat five years ago. He paid Rs. 7 lakh as an advance to the builder, Abdul Rehman Pathan, for his flat. After six months, the illegal construction was detected, leading to the demolition of the flat by the AMC.
Frustrated, Abdul Samad demanded the return of his advance payment of Rs. 1.80 lakh from the builder. However, he was yet to receive the remaining Rs. 5.20 lakh. On May 18, Abdul Samad called the builder to discuss the payment and was asked to meet at a new site in Danilimda.
When Abdul Samad arrived at the site, he found the builder, his brother Abdul Razak, and two other men, Abdul Rauf and Sajid, waiting for him. A heated argument broke out between them, leading to the attack. The four men became aggressive and assaulted Abdul Samad, inflicting severe injuries with a sword before fleeing the scene.
After the attack, Abdul Samad called a friend for help and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He later filed a complaint against the four assailants at the Danilimda police station. The police have launched an investigation into the matter to bring the attackers to justice.
This incident highlights the ongoing issues of illegal construction and disputes over property in Ahmedabad. Many residents face similar challenges when dealing with builders who do not adhere to legal guidelines. The authorities are urged to take stricter actions against such illegal activities to protect the rights and safety of citizens.
The Danilimda area is known for its rapid urbanisation and increasing property disputes. As more people invest in properties, it becomes crucial for them to ensure that builders follow the law to avoid situations like this. Community awareness and vigilance can help prevent such attacks and ensure safer dealings in the property market.
