This year, India celebrates the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a key figure in the country’s independence and unity. On June 12, a farmers’ conference will be held in Bardoli, Gujarat, to mark this significant occasion. The event will be attended by important leaders, including the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, and the Union Minister of Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The conference will be held at the BAPS temple complex in Bardoli at 10:00 AM. It will showcase initiatives aimed at empowering farmers and promoting agricultural excellence. The event will also mark the completion of the National Agricultural Development Campaign, which began on May 29 under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This campaign aims to make farmers self-reliant and improve agricultural practices across India.
During the conference, several key projects will be inaugurated, including a Center of Excellence for horticultural crops, such as bananas and vegetables, and a primary processing center. Additionally, the e-launch of 14 warehouses, with a total storage capacity of 25,000 metric tons, will enhance the agricultural infrastructure in the region.
Sardar Patel, known as the ‘Iron Man of India,’ played a pivotal role in uniting the country after independence. His efforts in various movements, like the Kheda Satyagraha and the Bardoli Satyagraha, earned him immense respect and the title of ‘Sardar’ from the farmers. He was instrumental in integrating over 500 princely states into the Indian Union, ensuring the nation’s unity and integrity.
In the spirit of Sardar Patel’s vision, this conference aims to provide farmers with modern agricultural techniques and knowledge about micro-nutrients and sustainable farming practices. The event is expected to benefit over 400,000 farmers across 2,250 rural clusters in Gujarat.
The emphasis on agriculture technology and farmer welfare reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the lives of farmers in the state. The success of such initiatives can significantly contribute to India’s agricultural growth and food security.
As we celebrate Sardar Patel’s legacy, the farmers’ conference in Bardoli serves as a reminder of his contributions and the ongoing efforts to support the farming community in Gujarat. The event not only honours his memory but also aims to inspire the next generation of farmers to adopt innovative practices and strive for excellence in agriculture.
The conference promises to be a grand event, celebrating the agricultural achievements in Gujarat while paying tribute to one of the nation’s greatest leaders. With the involvement of key officials and the local community, it highlights the importance of unity and cooperation in achieving progress in the agricultural sector.
