Ahmedabad is preparing for a grand celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day. The event will take place across 1,464 locations in the district, with an estimated participation of around 350,000 people. The district administration has organized this event under the guidance of District Collector Sujit Kumar. A meeting was held to review the preparations with various officials.
During a press conference, Collector Kumar spoke about the global recognition of yoga. He mentioned that the International Yoga Day is celebrated every year to promote yoga’s benefits. The main event will be held at the SGVP Gurukul in Chharodi, where more than 2,000 participants are expected to join.
This year’s theme for Yoga Day is ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’ and ‘Healthy Gujarat, Free from Diseases’. The aim is to increase public welfare through yoga. The Collector encouraged people to incorporate yoga into their daily lives for better health.
Yoga Day celebrations will occur from 5:45 AM to 8:00 AM. Between 6:20 AM and 7:00 AM, there will be speeches by notable speakers. Following this, a common yoga protocol will be practiced from 7:00 AM to 7:45 AM, concluding with the national anthem.
Collector Kumar emphasized the importance of adhering to the code of conduct during the ongoing Gram Panchayat elections while celebrating Yoga Day. The local police have also made special arrangements for the event at the historical site of Lothal, where local residents, youth, and police will join in the celebrations.
Additionally, from June 15 to June 21, various yoga-related activities will be organized for school children and youth. Schools and educational institutions will hold yoga sessions along with competitions such as drawing, speech, essay writing, and rangoli. Workshops for parents will also be conducted to raise awareness about yoga. Selfie points will be set up at key locations in Ahmedabad to promote yoga further.
The initiative aims to create awareness among citizens about the importance of yoga and its benefits. Through these activities, the district hopes to inspire more people to embrace yoga as a part of their lifestyle and contribute to their overall well-being.
