Chemical Tanker Overturns on Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway

A chemical tanker overturned on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway near Chakalasi around noon today. The tanker broke through the highway’s railing and fell about 20 feet into a pit. Fortunately, the driver escaped without injury. However, the tanker, which was carrying hydrogen peroxide, began leaking, causing a panic in the area. Authorities rushed to the scene to contain the situation before it worsened. The tanker, registered as GJ 06 AT 6296, was transporting 16,000 litres of hydrogen peroxide from Dahej to Ahmedabad when the incident occurred. This is not the first time a chemical tanker has overturned on this expressway. Just a few months ago, a similar incident resulted in a gas leak that created a hazardous situation for nearby residents. The police and highway patrol were quickly informed about today’s accident. The Nadiad fire station was also alerted, prompting a swift response from emergency services. Firefighters from Anand and Nadiad arrived at the scene with equipment to manage the leak. They started spraying water on the tanker to control the leaking chemical. Nadiad DYSP and several other officials visited the site to oversee the operations. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported from this incident. The emergency response team is doing everything possible to secure the area and prevent any further issues. Fire Officer Dharmesh Gore from Anand Fire Brigade confirmed that three fire engines were dispatched to the scene. They are currently working to stabilize the overturned tanker. The situation, while serious, is under control, and efforts are ongoing to remove the leak. The community is being kept informed, and residents are advised to stay away from the area until the situation is fully resolved.
