Civil Defence Mock Drill Held in Himmatnagar, Sabarkantha

A civil defence mock drill took place at the Himmatnagar Police Parade Ground in Sabarkantha district. This event aimed to prepare local agencies for any emergency attacks. It was conducted under the Operation Shield initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The drill was designed to ensure the safety of citizens during such situations. The drill began when a simulated attack alert was received. The Disaster Management Division of the Collector’s Office immediately notified all relevant departments.

Various teams were quickly deployed to the scene. Fire officers, health department staff, police personnel, and municipal teams all responded. They worked together to manage the situation effectively. After the drill, Harsad Vora, the in-charge collector, explained that the aim was to train citizens, students, and others in civil defence techniques.

During the mock drill, relevant departments quickly responded to rescue operations. Fire brigade teams handled a fire caused by the simulated attack. They worked to extinguish the flames and clear debris using JCB machines. Injured individuals were rescued from buildings and given first aid. Medical teams transported the injured to hospitals for further treatment. Throughout the drill, sirens sounded to alert citizens.

The in-charge collector urged local youth volunteers from organisations like NCC, NSS, and the Bharat Scouts and Guides to participate in civil protection. The drill included various officials, such as the district police chief, Vijay Patel, and resident deputy collector, Krishna Vaghela. They oversaw the emergency response.

Additionally, a blackout drill was planned to take place at Vadali Municipal Council from 8:00 PM to 8:10 PM. This would further test the readiness of local agencies during emergencies. The mock drill was a crucial step in ensuring that the community is adequately prepared for any potential threats. It served to increase awareness about safety measures among the public and highlighted the importance of readiness in times of crisis.

Local administrations are focusing on boosting the preparedness of civil defence. This drill is part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety measures in Himmatnagar and surrounding areas.
