In a recent court ruling, a notorious burglar named Arjun Vinodsingh Rajput has been denied bail by the sessions court in Ahmedabad. The court’s decision came after the police presented strong evidence against him, highlighting his extensive criminal history. Rajput was involved in a major burglary where he stole gold and silver jewellery, along with cash, amounting to a total of ₹45.75 lakh. This incident took place at a house located near Shyamal Crossroads in Ahmedabad.
The police revealed that Rajput had already been implicated in more than 47 similar crimes across various police stations in Vadodara alone. His criminal activities have made him a known figure in the world of burglary, with a pattern of breaking and entering into residential properties.
During the court proceedings, the investigating officer opposed the bail application, citing several alarming facts. They stated that Rajput is a repeat offender with a history of escaping police custody. Despite being arrested multiple times, he continued his criminal activities after being released from jail.
Government lawyer Sudhir B. Brahmbhatt argued that granting bail would pose a significant threat to society. He emphasized that Rajput could commit more burglaries if released, as he has shown a consistent pattern of such behaviour. Additionally, there was a concern that he might evade trial if granted bail, further complicating justice.
The sessions judge, H.G. Pandya, agreed with the prosecution’s arguments, noting Rajput’s illegal entry into the victim’s home and the substantial value of the stolen items. The judge also pointed out that Rajput has a troubling history, with 47 criminal cases already registered against him. It was noted that he had been jailed twice under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act but managed to continue his criminal ways upon release.
In this particular case, Rajput managed to escape from police custody while being transported for a medical check-up at Civil Hospital. This incident raised serious concerns about his potential for flight and the risks he posed to the community.
The court’s decision to deny bail was met with approval from law enforcement agencies, as they continue to work on capturing any remaining stolen property linked to Rajput. They believe that without his release, it will be easier to ensure that justice is served for the numerous victims of his crimes.
