Gandhinagar, Gujarat is witnessing a steady rise in COVID-19 cases. The total number of cases has now reached 190. Out of these, 131 cases are from Ahmedabad alone. Reports indicate that several districts in Gujarat currently have positive COVID-19 patients.
From Ahmedabad Corporation, there are 131 cases, Rajkot Corporation has 15, Jamnagar Corporation has 10, Mehsana has 6, Gandhinagar Corporation has 5, Bhavnagar Corporation has 4, Kutch has 3, Banas Kantha has 2, and Kheda has 2. New cases have also been reported from Anand, Bharuch, Patan, and Valsad, with one case each. On May 19, the number of COVID-19 positive cases was just 7.
In just 10 days, the number of COVID-19 positive cases has surged by 183. Health officials are currently testing to identify the variant of the virus affecting patients. So far, only one patient has been confirmed with a new variant.
The good news is that most COVID-19 patients are currently being treated at home. According to doctors, the COVID-19 situation is under control, and there is no reason to panic.
Recently, after a period of four months, COVID-19 is once again making headlines in Gujarat. On Wednesday, 42 new cases were reported, followed by another 40 positive cases in the last 24 hours. The rise in cases after festivals has raised concerns among authorities. In major cities, Ahmedabad leads with 14 new cases, followed by Surat with 7, Vadodara with 6, and Rajkot with 3.
The state currently has 234 active cases. The number of patients on ventilators has risen to 7. However, the state continues to report zero deaths, which is a significant relief.
Vaccination efforts are ongoing in Gujarat. In the last 24 hours, 457,767 people were vaccinated. This includes 48,492 in Ahmedabad, 16,910 in Vadodara, 44,763 in Surat, and 14,870 in Rajkot. Districts like Banas Kantha, Anand, and Kheda also reported substantial vaccination numbers.
As cases have decreased, the state government allowed festivals to be celebrated and eased lockdown measures. However, this relaxation seems to have led to a spike in cases after the celebrations, causing alarm among health officials.
The health department is now on high alert, implementing measures to control the situation. Testing at entry points in cities is being ramped up. This comes as the government encourages residents to remain vigilant and continue following safety protocols to prevent further spread of the virus.
