COVID-19 Cases Spike Again in Gujarat, Raising Concerns

In Gujarat, the number of active COVID-19 cases has seen a rise, causing worry among citizens. As of now, the state ranks sixth in India for the highest active cases. Ahmedabad has reported a fresh wave of infections, with seven new positive cases confirmed. The areas affected in the city include Vatva, Narol, Dani Limbda, Baherampura, Gota, Navrangpura, and Bopal. Among those infected, there are four men and three women. Currently, all patients are being kept in home isolation, leading to increased concern within the health department, which has activated its response measures.

In Rajkot, a special isolation department has been set up at the civil hospital. This facility is equipped with necessary COVID-related medicines, oxygen cylinders, testing kits, and laboratories. A 43-year-old man tested positive after showing symptoms upon returning from abroad, leading to further testing and isolation protocols. He is now under home quarantine with mild symptoms.

Health officer Dr. Bhavin Solanki has reported that four new cases were recorded yesterday. Three of these patients are being treated at home for symptoms like cough and fever. The other patient, an 84-year-old man, has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

In response to the rising cases, the health department has become active in Gujarat. Isolation wards are being set up in various hospitals across the state. In Ahmedabad civil hospital, a special arrangement has been made with 1,200 beds and a 20,000-litre oxygen tank ready for use. Similarly, Rajkot civil hospital has prepared a 20-bed isolation ward, while Sayaji hospital in Vadodara has set up a 22-bed ward. Surat civil hospital is also ready to establish an emergency ward if needed. Additionally, the stock of PPE kits, ventilators, and medicines has been ensured to be sufficient.

Health officials are urging people to contact them if they experience any symptoms related to COVID-19. Testing has been ramped up in Ahmedabad, with several hospitals like SVP Hospital, Shardaben Hospital, and LG Hospital creating isolation wards to handle potential cases. The situation remains under close watch as authorities strive to manage the growing number of infections.

The recent increase in cases has raised alarms, especially as many facilities are already equipped with necessary medical supplies and staff. Residents are advised to maintain safety protocols, avoid crowded places, and continue to wear masks to curb the spread of the virus. The health department emphasizes the importance of vigilance and early reporting of symptoms to manage the situation effectively.

Overall, while the state is experiencing a new wave of COVID-19 cases, health authorities are prepared with necessary resources and are taking proactive measures to ensure public safety. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed and adhere to health guidelines to protect themselves and others.
