Cultural Programme Celebrates International Museum Day in Patan

On Sunday, the Regional Science Centre in Patan hosted a grand cultural programme to celebrate International Museum Day. This event was organised by the Commissioner of Youth Services and Cultural Activities in Gandhinagar, along with the District Youth and Cultural Activities Office in Patan. The programme featured traditional performances such as Lok Dayra, Beda dance, and Bhavai, showcasing Gujarat’s rich cultural heritage.

The organisers included Lakshmichandbhai Solanki, international artists Rajnibhai Barot and Jigarbhai Barot, as well as folk singers Sanjaybhai Barot and Haresbhai Barot, who performed with their teams. The event was successfully presented by the Jay Ogdhnath Bhavai Kala Mandal of Patan.

More than 1,000 visitors, including children and adults from districts like Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Banaskantha, expressed their joy at the beautiful and entertaining Bhavai performances. The District Youth Development Officer, Babubhai Choudhary, and his team were instrumental in organising this cultural event.

As part of International Museum Day, participants also engaged in an interactive session and documentary show to learn about the future of museums. Dr. Sumit Shastri, the project director of the Science Centre, stated that it is crucial for today’s youth to understand their culture and traditions, especially in a rapidly changing world. He also thanked the Commissioner of Youth Services and Cultural Activities in Gandhinagar and the District Youth and Cultural Activities Office in Patan for their support in making this event a success.
