Dakor Railway Station in Kheda district has undergone a significant upgrade thanks to an investment of ₹5.88 crore. This modernisation is part of the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, which aims to enhance railway facilities across India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the station online, emphasising the importance of maintaining these facilities as if they were owned by the passengers themselves.
Located near the famous Ranchhodrayji Temple, Dakor Railway Station plays a crucial role on the Anand-Godhra line. The renovation reflects a blend of tradition and modernity, showcasing the rich heritage of the region while providing new amenities for passengers.
During the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi stated that the Amrit Bharat initiative would bring new momentum and progress to the country. He urged rail users to treat railway services with a sense of ownership. The modernised station is not only an architectural marvel but also aims to boost employment and tourism in the area.
State MLA Yogendra Parmar highlighted that the upgraded station would offer more efficient transport services for residents of Dakor and the surrounding areas. He also requested railway officials to consider introducing new train services on the Dakor route, ensuring that local residents benefit from the enhanced facilities.
The renovation includes the construction of double tracks instead of the previous single track, making travel more efficient. Three separate waiting rooms have been created for men, women, and a common area, all equipped with adequate ventilation and comfort. The station’s design showcases a devotional theme, featuring statues and murals that reflect the local culture, including images of Lord Krishna and verses from the Bhagavad Gita.
The new station also caters to differently-abled passengers with features such as tactile tiles, ramps, low-height water taps, and dedicated parking spaces. Additionally, there are special seating arrangements for women and facilities for children.
A large parking area has been developed, accommodating up to 126 vehicles, including cars, buses, and bikes. A wide foot overbridge has been built for easy access between platforms, along with improved lighting and a travel information system.
The transformation of Dakor Railway Station has been met with enthusiasm by passengers and visitors alike. The inauguration event featured cultural performances and recognition for local students excelling in academics, showcasing the community’s spirit.
Attendees included MLA Yogendra Parmar, railway officials, local leaders, and citizens, all celebrating the new era for Dakor Railway Station. The modernisation not only enhances the travel experience but also embodies the cultural essence of Dakor, making it a significant landmark in the region.
