In Valsad, a shocking theft took place in broad daylight on June 12, 2025. A bag containing ₹5 lakh in cash was stolen right outside a bank on Gaurav Path Road. The victim, an elderly man named Dineshbhai Bhimabhai Patel, went to withdraw money from the bank. After collecting the cash, he placed it in a cloth bag. He then decided to buy some dry fruits and hung the bag on his bike as he went to the shop.
While he was away, a thief took advantage of the situation. Reports suggest that one man snatched the bag and fled on a motorcycle with an accomplice. Witnesses described the thief as wearing a black cap. They were riding a Pulsar bike during the incident.
After the theft, Dineshbhai alerted the local police. The city police quickly began to search the area and review CCTV footage to identify the suspects. However, as of now, the thieves have not been caught.
Dineshbhai, aged 63, lives in the village of Ghadhoi. He was at home overseeing construction work when he realized he needed money. He then went to the Indian Bank located near Awabai School to withdraw cash. After receiving the money, he placed it in the cloth bag and intended to buy dry fruits. Unfortunately, this decision led to a significant loss.
This incident is not isolated. In nearby Vapi, another daylight robbery occurred where thieves made off with ₹8.70 lakh. In that case, two men attacked a worker as he was leaving a bank. They knocked him down and stole the bag of cash before fleeing on a bike. The Vapi GIDC police are investigating that theft as well.
Daylight robberies are becoming a concerning trend in Gujarat. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police. The authorities are working hard to improve safety in the area, especially near banks and other financial institutions.
In the wake of these incidents, many people are reconsidering their safety measures when withdrawing money. With thefts happening in broad daylight, it is crucial for individuals to be careful and aware of their surroundings. The police advise people to avoid displaying large sums of cash in public and to always remain cautious when handling money.
As investigations continue, the police are hopeful that the CCTV footage will lead to the arrest of the culprits involved in both thefts. Meanwhile, the community is rallying together, sharing information and tips to help prevent future incidents. Everyone hopes for a swift resolution to these crimes and a return to safety in their neighbourhoods.
