Farmers in Deesa are celebrating as groundnut prices remain stable. The Banaskantha district is gaining fame for its groundnut production. In Deesa, groundnut is widely grown during both summer and monsoon seasons. This year, farmers planted groundnut on 23,671 hectares in the summer season alone. As a result, the market yard is witnessing a significant influx of groundnuts. On Saturday, the Deesa market yard recorded an impressive arrival of 19,020 bags of groundnuts. Farmers received high prices, with some selling for as much as 1,400 rupees per bag, while the lowest price was around 1,000 rupees. On average, farmers earned 1,200 rupees per bag. The stable prices have brought happiness among the farming community.
Deesa market yard is one of the busiest in North Gujarat, second only to Unjha. During the summer season, daily arrivals can exceed 50,000 bags, and in the monsoon season, they can reach over 100,000 bags. Currently, the daily arrival of groundnuts stands at around 20,000 bags, and this number is expected to rise in the coming days.
