In the city of Deesa, potholes have become a significant issue, causing inconvenience for residents. Gauraang Patel, the Chief Officer of the Deesa Municipal Corporation, is now taking strong action to address this problem. Recently, several mobile and underground cable companies ignored the pre-monsoon plan and dug numerous holes across the city. This has led to public outcry, prompting the Chief Officer to halt the work of these companies immediately. He has ordered that all potholes be filled within the next two days.
The Deesa Municipal Corporation had previously worked to make city roads pothole-free. However, after various companies resumed digging, the situation worsened. The ongoing work has resulted in numerous small accidents, especially during the monsoon season. Reports in the media have highlighted these issues, damaging the municipality’s reputation.
Recognising the seriousness of the situation, Chief Officer Gauraang Patel has now entered action mode. He has taken strict measures against the companies responsible for the potholes. All their activities have been suspended, and they have been given a firm deadline of two days to fill the potholes. If they fail to meet this deadline, the municipality has threatened to confiscate all machinery belonging to these companies.
These strong steps by the Chief Officer have brought relief to the citizens of Deesa. Many residents are expressing satisfaction with the actions taken and are praising the efforts to improve road safety. In addition to the municipal response, local political parties have also reacted to the pothole situation. The Aam Aadmi Party and Congress leaders staged a joint protest outside the new bus station in Deesa. They highlighted the ongoing corruption linked to these potholes and demanded immediate action. During the protest, Congress leader Bhemabhai Chaudhary led workers in a unique demonstration, waving flags and performing rituals around the potholes.
The protesters pointed out that the large potholes near the new bus station and opposite the Deputy Collector’s office have been causing severe problems for passengers and drivers. They noted that due to these potholes, buses have experienced tire blowouts and even damage to their chassis, putting the safety of passengers at risk. The protesting groups warned that if the potholes were not filled quickly, they would escalate their protests further.
The situation in Deesa highlights the urgent need for municipal action in maintaining public infrastructure. As the rainy season approaches, the safety of all road users is paramount.
