Demand for Changes in Revenue Talati Exam in Kapadvanj

Demand for Changes in Revenue Talati Exam in Kapadvanj

In Kapadvanj, there is a growing call for changes in the Revenue Talati exam’s grade pay and syllabus. Local leaders and students have submitted a petition to the Kapadvanj Mamlatdar and the local MLA, Rajesh Zala. They argue that the responsibilities of a Revenue Talati are similar to those of a Deputy Mamlatdar and a Circle Officer. Thus, their grade pay should reflect this.

Recently, a new syllabus for the Revenue Talati examination was released on May 22, 2025. This syllabus includes a primary exam worth 200 marks covering subjects like Gujarati, English, the Constitution, History, Geography, Heritage, Economy, and Environment. The main exam consists of three papers worth 350 marks. These include a 100-mark paper in Gujarati, 100 marks in English, and a 150-mark paper covering General Studies, which includes topics like the history of Gujarat and India, cultural heritage, geography of Gujarat and the country, science and technology, the Constitution, economy, public administration, and ethics. Notably, the English paper has become mandatory, while qualifying for the GPSC is still necessary.

The petitioners express concern that the main exam for the Revenue Talati, which has a grade pay of 1900, should not be equivalent to that of a Deputy Mamlatdar, who has a grade pay of 4400. They worry that the entire examination process may take up to a year to complete, causing delays for many students. The petition also requests that the main exam format be changed from descriptive to objective, to streamline the assessment process.

Kapadvanj, located in the Kheda district, is known for its agricultural significance. The local economy relies heavily on farming, with residents primarily cultivating crops like maize, millet, cotton, potatoes, and tobacco. The area also provides basic facilities such as primary schools, a panchayat office, an anganwadi, and a dairy.

As the petition gains attention, it highlights the community’s desire for fair treatment and appropriate recognition of the responsibilities held by Revenue Talatis. The local leaders and students are hopeful that their voices will be heard, leading to necessary changes in the examination process and grading system. The outcome of this petition could greatly impact the future of many aspiring Revenue Talatis in Kapadvanj and beyond.
