On Saturday, a meeting of the District Coordination and Grievance Redressal Committee took place at the Patan District Service Sadan conference hall. The meeting was chaired by District Collector Tushar Bhatt. Various issues were discussed in detail. During the meeting, Tushar Bhatt directed the officials of the concerned departments to address the issues raised by the MLAs promptly.
The committee reviewed applications and questions received from the public as well. This meeting included discussions on various topics such as law and order, religious pressures, and the supply advisory committee. Additionally, it addressed illegal drug trafficking under the NCORD Committee led by the police commissioner.
There were also discussions on road safety, child labour eradication task force, and the monitoring committee for natural agriculture. The implementation committee for the Prime Minister’s Skill Development Scheme also met to discuss progress. The district land committee, which focuses on development issues, was also part of the meetings.
Tushar Bhatt provided the necessary guidance and suggestions for each department’s issues. The meeting was attended by MLAs, the District Development Officer, and the District Police Chief, V.K. Nayi, along with officials from related departments.
Patan district is located in the northern part of Gujarat, India. It was established on October 1, 2000. The district headquarters is in the historic city of Patan. It was formed by merging the talukas of Siddhpur, Harij, Chanasma, and Patan from Mehsana district, along with Radhanpur and Santalpur from Banaskantha district. Initially, there were seven talukas in Patan district. On September 23, 2012, the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi announced the creation of three new talukas: Shankheshwar, Saraswati, and Suigam.
The population of Patan district, as per the 2011 census, is 1,343,734, which is comparable to the population of the country of Swaziland or the state of Maine in the USA. The district ranks 359th out of 640 districts in India by population. Patan’s population density is 234 inhabitants per square kilometre. From 2001 to 2011, the population growth rate was 13.53%. The literacy rate in Patan is 73.74%. As of 2001, 20.16% of the district’s population lived in urban areas. Patan district is represented in the Lok Sabha by one seat and has four seats in the Vidhan Sabha: Chanasma, Patan, Radhanpur, and Siddhpur.
In total, there are 464 gram panchayats in Patan district, which play a crucial role in local governance and development. The District Coordination and Grievance Redressal Committee meetings are an important platform for addressing community concerns and ensuring effective governance.
