In a shocking turn of events, the Delhi Police’s crime branch has arrested a man known as ‘Doctor Death’. Devendra Sharma, a 67-year-old Ayurvedic doctor, is accused of murdering over 50 taxi drivers and feeding their remains to crocodiles. The police have been searching for him since 2023 when he escaped from Tihar Jail after being granted parole.
Devendra Sharma is originally from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He has a long criminal history, with 27 cases against him, including murder, kidnapping, and robbery. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in seven different cases across Delhi, Rajasthan, and Haryana. In one case involving the murder of a taxi driver, he was even sentenced to death.
Sharma’s criminal activities reportedly took place between 1994 and 2004. He is accused of illegally conducting over 125 kidney transplants, along with the murders. After becoming a fugitive, he lived as a priest in an ashram in Dausa, Rajasthan. The police received a tip-off about his whereabouts, leading to his arrest.
The crime branch, led by Umesh Badthwal, tracked Sharma’s network across several cities, including Aligarh, Agra, Prayagraj, Jaipur, and Delhi. They confirmed his identity as he was living in the ashram under a different name.
In questioning, Sharma admitted to his past crimes and revealed that he had planned to never return to jail. He left his wife and children in 2004 when his crimes came to light.
