Dudhsagar Dairy, based in Mehsana, has recently faced accusations regarding the quality of its milk powder. In response, Chairman Ashokbhai Chaudhary has urged the government to conduct a thorough inspection of the product. This request comes after various allegations have emerged, including claims of unnecessary purchases of milk powder and issues related to expired products. During a press conference, Chaudhary aimed to reassure customers that their trust in the dairy remains intact.
Chaudhary highlighted that the dairy has been operating with a strong commitment to quality, stating, “We do not want our customers’ trust to waver in any way.” He called for an inspection by the Food and Drugs Department to verify the quality of the milk powder and to clear any doubts caused by the recent accusations.
The dairy’s Vice Chairman, Yogeshbhai Patel, also addressed the allegations, stating that the dairy had significantly reduced its long-term loans from ₹415 crore to ₹677 crore. He explained that during the winter months, the dairy accumulates stock to ensure a consistent supply to farmers, which sometimes requires loans.
In the past, the dairy faced a stock of ₹757 crore against loans of ₹577 crore, but by 2025, the stock value is expected to increase to ₹1243 crore with loans dropping to ₹513 crore. This reflects the dairy’s robust financial management and commitment to supporting local farmers.
Chaudhary also mentioned that the dairy has made profits by strategically buying milk powder from other dairies at lower prices during the season and selling it at a profit later on. He assured the public that the dairy only processes milk powder that meets quality standards set by the federation.
Despite the allegations, the Dudhsagar Dairy management remains confident in their operations. They are committed to maintaining transparency and quality, requesting that if any wrongdoing is found, appropriate action should be taken against them, while also seeking a clean chit if they are found innocent.
The call for inspection comes at a crucial time as Dudhsagar Dairy strives to uphold its reputation in the competitive dairy market. With a focus on quality and customer trust, the management is taking proactive steps to address concerns and ensure that their products meet the highest standards.
In related news, the dairy sector in Gujarat has been under scrutiny due to various corruption scandals. Recently, former Home Minister and Dudhsagar Dairy’s former chairman, Vipul Chaudhary, was sentenced to seven years in prison for his involvement in a ₹600 crore scam. This case has raised concerns about governance in the dairy sector, prompting calls for greater oversight and accountability.
Dudhsagar Dairy aims to distance itself from these controversies by emphasizing its commitment to quality and integrity. The management hopes that the upcoming inspection will reassure customers and restore confidence in their products. As the dairy industry continues to evolve, maintaining customer trust will be essential for the success of Dudhsagar Dairy and others in the sector.
