Elections Announced for Gram Panchayats and Sarpanch Seats in Banaskantha

The Election Commission has announced elections in Banaskantha district for various local bodies. On June 22, 2025, elections will be held for 614 gram panchayat seats and 405 sarpanch seats. The voting will take place from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Out of the total 405 sarpanch positions, 90 are unopposed. In addition, 2,478 members have been elected unopposed from a total of 3,570 ward member positions. The elections will cover 14 talukas in the district.

For the gram panchayats, the elections include 385 seats for general elections and 229 for by-elections. The total number of candidates who submitted nomination forms includes 1,927 for the 405 sarpanch seats and 5,005 for the 3,570 ward member positions. During the verification of the nomination forms, 44 sarpanch forms and 198 member forms were declared invalid. Additionally, 834 sarpanch forms and 737 member forms were withdrawn.

The elections will occur in various talukas as follows:
– In Palanpur taluka, elections will be held for 22 panchayats, with 31 sarpanch candidates contesting and 55 member positions.
– In Vadgam, there will be elections for 20 panchayats, with 36 sarpanch candidates and 74 member positions.
– Danta will have 10 panchayats with 29 sarpanch candidates and 135 members.
– Amirgadh will see 13 panchayats with 34 sarpanch candidates and 199 members.
– Disa will host elections for 26 panchayats with 62 sarpanch candidates and 154 members.
– Kankrej will have 45 panchayats, with 90 sarpanch candidates and 144 members.
– Dhanera will have 45 panchayats with 138 sarpanch candidates and 218 members.
– Dantivada will see elections for 28 panchayats with 53 sarpanch candidates and 82 members.
– Tharad will have 38 panchayats with 96 sarpanch candidates and 87 members.
– Vav will host elections for 38 panchayats with 103 sarpanch candidates and 90 members.
– Diyodar will have 36 panchayats with 77 sarpanch candidates and 110 members.
– Lakhni will see elections for 24 panchayats with 72 sarpanch candidates and 117 members.
– Suigam will have 17 panchayats with 32 sarpanch candidates and 55 members.
– Bhabhar will see elections for 23 panchayats with 52 sarpanch candidates and 61 members.
