In Gandhinagar, the Minister of Women and Child Development, Bhanuben Babariya, highlighted the crucial role women play in the development of Gujarat. During the ‘Women’s Conference’, she stated that strong and capable women are the backbone of the country’s progress. The conference marked a significant moment for women’s empowerment initiatives in the state.
A significant part of the event was the inauguration of the Sakhi One Stop Centre in Kheda, built using light gauge steel frame technology. This center aims to provide support and resources for women in need. Additionally, three demo Anganwadi centres in Dahod and Khatam were also inaugurated. These centres are designed to enhance the nutritional and educational resources available to young children.
The event celebrated various government schemes aimed at supporting women, such as the Vhali Dikari Yojana, a financial assistance program for daughters, and the Ganga Swaroopa remarriage economic aid. The Minister took the opportunity to honour beneficiaries of these initiatives, showcasing the government’s commitment to women’s welfare.
Minister Babariya emphasized that the development journey of Gujarat will gain momentum through the empowerment of women. She pointed out that every Anganwadi worker plays a vital role in creating a nourished and healthy Gujarat. She expressed her appreciation for the cultural teachings imparted by Anganwadi workers, which resonate with the invitation to guests in homes – a reflection of Gujarat’s rich cultural heritage.
Highlighting the importance of education, she remarked that the nurturing and holistic development of girls, young women, and mothers is paramount for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government aims to realise the vision of ‘Nation Building through Women Power’, which has been a key focus since Modi’s leadership began in Gujarat.
During the conference, various awards were presented to exceptional women and voluntary organisations for their contributions towards women’s welfare. The Gujarat Women Development Award was given to the best voluntary organisation and outstanding woman worker in recognition of their efforts in promoting women’s rights and empowerment.
The Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, Rakesh Shankh, shared that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state has launched the Nutrition Festival, engaging over 350,000 beneficiaries enthusiastically. This initiative is aimed at promoting health and nutrition among women and children across Gujarat.
The conference was attended by many dignitaries, including district panchayat president Shilpaben Patel and ICDS Commissioner Ranjit Kumar. They expressed gratitude towards all attendees and emphasized the significance of collective efforts in achieving a nourished and prosperous Gujarat.
