Excitement Builds for Elections in 23 Gram Panchayats of Bhabhar Taluka

In Banas Kantha district, the elections for 23 gram panchayats in Bhabhar Taluka are finally here. This region has long been under the control of administrators, which has slowed development projects. Now, with the election dates announced, there is hope for change. Candidates for the position of sarpanch (village head) are gearing up. They are holding meetings with local leaders and seeking political support. The last date to submit nomination forms is June 9. It will be interesting to see who registers to run in these 23 panchayats. Political activities are already buzzing in the rural areas.

The villages that will hold elections include Tanwad, Abala, Abasana, Asana, Barwala, Beda, Bhim Bordhi, Bhodalya, Chichodara, Devkapadi, Karela, Khari Paldi, Chembua (new and old), Tetarva, Vadana, Vadpag, Jasanwada, Khadoshan, Chhatra, Meshpura, Sanva, and Ladula.

As of the third day of the nomination process, no forms have been submitted for the sarpanch position in Bhabhar. However, five forms were submitted for the Chichodara gram panchayat for wards 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8. Election officials are working diligently at the Bhabhar Mamlatdar and Taluka Panchayat offices to oversee the election process.

The residents of the region are also facing water supply issues. In the Vadana village area, illegal connections to the water supply have led to a shortage of water. Despite claims from the Water Supply Department and the Narmada Department that water is supplied to every village, the reality is quite different. A visit to Jasanwada village revealed that locals are struggling to get drinking water. This village has over 3000 residents and only receives water for a few hours every four days. They often have to buy water, facing difficulties in the hot weather.

Community members have raised these concerns during public meetings, including a recent event attended by the Chief Minister. The situation is dire, as the illegal connections are draining the water supply meant for the villagers. The local sarpanch has reported the issue to the Taluka Panchayat, but no action has been taken yet.

Bhabhar Taluka is located in the western part of India, in the state of Gujarat. It has a rich history, having been established in 1742 during a period of political upheaval. The area has seen various changes over the years, including British rule, and became part of Banas Kantha district in 1960 after the formation of the state of Gujarat.

With the elections approaching, there is hope among the villagers for better governance and solutions to their pressing issues. The outcome of these elections could bring significant changes to the rural communities of Bhabhar Taluka.
