Farmers in Kapadvanj Urge for Urgent Canal Work Completion

In Kapadvanj, farmers from the villages of Dahiyap and Navapura are facing difficulties. They are urging the authorities to complete essential work on the Dahiyap District Canal. This canal connects to the Narmada Main Canal through the Lasundra Gate. The Dahiyap Canal needs about 600 meters of jungle cutting, soil work, and lining. Additionally, the Anara Minor Canal 2 requires approximately four kilometres of similar work. Despite repeated requests to the local chairman, no action has been taken. The farmers have been waiting since March 2025 for the work to start, but nothing has happened. This delay can lead to problems during the upcoming Kharif season, affecting about 400 to 600 hectares of land. The farmers worry they will struggle to harvest their crops. They also mentioned that the canal needs cleaning from debris and weeds. The farmers are asking local authorities to complete these tasks before the monsoon season begins. In addition, the Kapadvanj area is historically significant and has a strong agricultural background. The main crops grown include maize, millet, cotton, and potatoes. The villagers depend on agriculture and related activities for their livelihoods. Without timely intervention by the authorities, the farmers fear severe losses in their production and income. They are calling for immediate action to resolve these issues and ensure their crops can thrive during the crucial farming season. The farmers hope that their voices will be heard, leading to swift action on the canal work. This situation highlights the need for better management and timely construction in rural areas to support local agriculture and livelihoods.
