The late Vijay Rupani, former Chief Minister of Gujarat, will receive his final rites at the Ramnathpara crematorium in Rajkot. This follows his tragic death in an airplane accident in Ahmedabad. Vijay Rupani was a prominent leader of the BJP and served as a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. He took office as the sixteenth Chief Minister of Gujarat on August 7, 2016. Before becoming Chief Minister, he was the state president of the BJP and a member of the Rajya Sabha. Rupani was born on August 2, 1956, in Rangoon, Burma. His family moved to India in 1960, settling in Rajkot. He graduated from Dharmendra Singh College and later earned a law degree from Saurashtra University. Rupani was active in student politics and became a member of the BJP in 1971.

He faced challenges during his career, including imprisonment during the Emergency period in India from 1975 to 1977. He held various positions within the party and served as the Mayor of Rajkot from 1996 to 1997. Rupani became the BJP’s Gujarat state president in 2014 and was elected to the Legislative Assembly later that year. He was known for his focus on development and welfare initiatives during his tenure as Chief Minister.
