A serious accident occurred on the Kheda-Dholka road late Friday night. A mini-truck collided with a large truck, causing a fire that injured the mini-truck driver. The accident happened near a petrol pump in the village of Gandhipura. Reports indicate that the mini-truck was speeding when the driver lost control. The vehicle crashed through a divider and collided head-on with an oncoming truck.
The mini-truck, identified with the number plate GJ 1 CAX 3561, was driven by Bijalbhai Kanabhai, also known as Kantilal Bhervad. Witnesses claim that he was driving recklessly. Firefighters from Kheda and Nadiad responded quickly, using water to control the blaze, which took about an hour to extinguish. The police arrived at the scene shortly after the accident and closed the road to manage traffic.
According to local police, they registered a case against Bijalbhai based on a complaint from the truck driver, Suresh Kuvarsinh Bamaniya. Investigations are ongoing, and the police have informed the forensic science laboratory for further examination.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety in Gujarat. Just days prior, a triple accident on the Kapadvanj-Modasa highway resulted in fatalities and injuries, raising alarms about reckless driving in the area. The state has seen a rise in such incidents, prompting authorities to take action to improve road safety measures.
The local community is urged to exercise caution while driving, especially on busy roads. Officials are also reminding drivers to adhere to speed limits and be vigilant to prevent further accidents. As investigations continue, the focus remains on ensuring road safety for all travelers in the region.
