Five Arrested for Hosting Illegal Liquor Party in Ahmedabad

On a Sunday afternoon, five people were arrested for hosting an illegal liquor party at a paying guest flat in Ahmedabad. The incident took place near the Shivranjani crossroads. The Satellite police acted on a tip-off received around 3:15 PM on June 29. They were informed about a group of young people drinking and causing a disturbance at Sangath Tower, close to Lokmanya Tilak College.

When police arrived at Flat No. 1001, they found a gathering of eight people. The officers discovered empty liquor bottles, plastic glasses, and food packets scattered around the sitting area. During a search, they found two sealed bottles of vodka. None of the attendees had valid liquor permits, which is a requirement under Gujarat’s prohibition law.

Out of the eight individuals present, five were visibly intoxicated. The others claimed they had not consumed any alcohol. However, police noted a strong smell of liquor in the flat. The officers recorded statements from everyone involved.

As a result of their findings, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act. The police plan to take further action based on medical reports and forensic analysis. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are keen to address the issue of illegal liquor consumption in the state.

Gujarat has strict laws against the sale and consumption of alcohol. The state has a long-standing prohibition policy aimed at reducing social problems related to drinking. Violators of these laws can face severe penalties, including fines and imprisonment.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenge of enforcing these laws, especially among younger individuals. The police are urging the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal liquor sales or consumption. They are committed to ensuring that the prohibition laws are upheld in the region.

The police have also reminded the public that gatherings involving alcohol can lead to serious legal consequences. They encourage everyone to abide by the laws to maintain peace and safety in their communities.
