Former CM Vijay Rupani Dies in Plane Crash

Tragic news has emerged from Ahmedabad as former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, reportedly died in a plane crash. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have left for Gujarat following this incident. The official confirmation of Rupani’s death is still pending. According to sources, the bodies of those who died in the crash were badly burned, making identification difficult. It is possible that Rupani’s body is among them. Therefore, official confirmation will only come after DNA testing is conducted. Images from the last moments on the plane have also surfaced.

The passengers who died in the crash were so severely burned that identifying them is a challenge. Reports suggest there are about 50 to 60 bodies in such poor condition that they cannot be identified. Authorities are expected to conduct DNA tests on all these bodies before providing any definite information. Meanwhile, there is chaos at the civil hospital. Relatives of the passengers are arriving at the scene, as police take them to the hospital. Many people are searching for their loved ones.

In response to the news of Rupani’s death, Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Thawani posted on X but later deleted the post. Meanwhile, Bhupendra Chudasama has visited Rupani’s residence in Gandhinagar. Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah are also en route to Ahmedabad.

Vijay Rupani served as the 16th Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2016 to 2021. He was a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rupani was born in Rangoon, which is now known as Yangon in Myanmar. After political turmoil, his family moved to Rajkot in Gujarat in 1960. Rupani joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) while in school. Later, he became part of the BJP through the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. He contested the state assembly election in 2014 and won from Rajkot West. Rupani also served as a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2006 to 2012.

A total of 242 people were on the plane, including 217 adults, 11 children, and 2 infants. Among them were 169 Indians, 53 British citizens, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese nationals. In addition to the 232 passengers, there were 10 crew members and 2 pilots.

The news of Rupani’s demise has shocked many. He was known for his leadership and contributions to Gujarat. He was active in politics for many years and played a significant role in the BJP’s growth in the state. His political journey began in his youth and saw him hold various important positions, including the mayor of Rajkot and the state party president.
