Four Arrested After Robbery at Ambagiri Ashram in Ankleshwar

In Ankleshwar, Gujarat, four men were arrested by the B Division police for robbery and violence at the Ambagiri Ashram, located near the Narmada River bridge. The incident occurred on June 7, when Vijay Tiwari and his older brother Ajay, who serve as caretakers at the ashram, were attacked by the suspects. The attackers had a grudge against Vijay after he previously stopped one of them, known as Kalua, from cutting wood near the ashram.

That night, the men, including Kalua, Sonu, Golu and another accomplice, stormed into the ashram. They assaulted Vijay, took away a gold chain from his neck, and stole ₹30,000 (around £300) that was kept safe at the ashram. Ajay was also beaten during the attack but managed to escape. Following the incident, the police registered a complaint for robbery and launched an investigation.

The police quickly identified the suspects and arrested them at a nearby apartment complex. Those arrested included Golu Tukaram Varekere, Dipak alias Kalua Raju Shah, Sagar Dashrath Tabe, and Sumit Ramesh Vasava. They are now facing legal action for their crimes.

Ankleshwar is a significant city in the Bharuch district of Gujarat, located about 10 kilometers from Bharuch and 65 kilometers from Surat. Historically, it was known as Ankureshwar. The city has developed rapidly, especially in the industrial sector, being home to Asia’s largest industrial estate, GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation).
