Fraud Case: Textile Dealer Loses ₹10.86 Lakh to Conman in Dahod

In a shocking incident in Dahod, a textile dealer has reported a fraud involving ₹10.86 lakh. The victim, Imranbhai Rinchhadiwala, runs a wholesale textile business. He filed a complaint with the Dahod police against a man named Janakbhai Khatri, who he claims tricked him into providing goods without payment.

The fraud unfolded when Imranbhai was contacted by an agent, Janakbhai Khatri, through Vijaykumar Matai. Khatri visited Imranbhai’s warehouse to discuss business and inspect the textiles. They agreed on prices, and soon after, Imranbhai sent goods worth ₹5.35 lakh to the Maskati market as per their deal.

A week later, when Imranbhai requested payment, Khatri asked for more goods, promising to pay for both shipments at once. Trusting Khatri’s words, Imranbhai sent an additional shipment worth ₹5.50 lakh, bringing the total value of goods to ₹10.86 lakh.

When Imranbhai sought payment, Khatri provided five cheques. However, when Imranbhai tried to cash these cheques, they bounced. Frustrated, he attempted to contact Khatri, but the phone numbers were no longer in service. Khatri frequently changed his phone numbers and eventually vacated his office, leaving Imranbhai with no way to reach him.

Feeling cheated, Imranbhai decided to take action and approached the Dahod police station to file the complaint. The police have begun their investigation into the case, aiming to track down Khatri and recover the lost amount. This incident has raised concerns within the local business community about the risks of fraud and the need for better verification of business partners.

The textile industry is vital in Gujarat, and incidents like these can have a ripple effect, damaging trust among traders. Business owners are urged to verify the credentials of new partners and to conduct transactions with caution. The police encourage anyone with similar experiences to come forward and report them, as they work to crack down on fraudulent activities in the region.

In a related incident, a bizarre case from Nikol has also caught attention. A young man was attacked by a neighbor while sitting at a tea stall. The neighbor, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, confronted the young man and started a fight. Both individuals ended up falling from the first floor of the stall, resulting in injuries for the young man, who was later hospitalized. The victim has since filed a complaint against the neighbor at the Nikol police station. These incidents underline the importance of community safety and the need for prompt police action against crime in Gujarat.
